Squier Lavigne Telecaster and the Ibanez RGR320EX released at the Summer NAMM

Damn, I can't go riding my motorbike this weekend and I feel really mean so this piece of news will be a hard one (I'm just kidding, I am always evil). The Summer NAMM is running hot these days and as it was expected, a lot of great stuff is coming out in the spotlight. As for this hour's release, there are two guitars that have really made me think about them seriously: the Avril Lavigne Squier Telecaster and the Ibanez RGR320EX.

Now, taking each at a time, I just sat and thought why the heck would Avril need her own series at Fender? I mean, c'mon, she plays complete bulls**t and as a guitar player, she's friggin' overrated. I can somehow understand Fender for the movement, it's all about money, as it's for Avril herself but man, that's hilarious!

The guys at Fender would have better made a cardboard guitar, things would have been pretty much the same; it's somehow the same crap as in the hideous pink Fender Jaguar with Swarovski crystals all over it... made for Shakira.

Guys, wake up! There are serious players on the face of the Earth playing your guitars; have at least a tad of regard for them while thinking of adding "players" like Shakira and miss Lavigne among the praised ranks of Clapton, Malmsteen, Jeff Beck, Stuart Hamm or Reggie Hamilton. Jesus Christ, that's utter blasphemy! I mean, OK, we're speaking Squier Avril but that's gross!

On the other hand, a hail for the guys in the Hoshino sofas: the RGR320EX is one more proof that Ibanez is really one of the world's most dynamic companies and are seriously on the move to offer some of the most serious and at the same time best-looking guitars around.

The new axe from Ibanez has a reversed headstock, which has been a sign of exquisite make for many years and few players have had the privilege to have their series in reversed headstock over the time. Dino Cazares, best know from progressive metal band Fear Factory is one of the reversed-headstock names...and by the way, I guess he outplays Shakira and miss Lavigne together with only one hand and even asleep...

The New RGR320EX sports an Edge II Floyd Rose bridge and comes loaded with IBZ by EMG PU's; even more (and better), it looks like Ibanez is slowly moving towards a wider number of awesomely painted guitars offered for a larger public. After the last HR Giger-painted guitars and the JEM20 or Xiphos, the RGR320EX comes like a natural and most welcome following. Go-go, Ibanez!

Now, in the end, some final considerations. First of all, for Ibanez: if you go and crap your guitars out with diamonds and other lame things, I promise to sell my two Ibanez guitars away and never come back!

Secondly, for Fender and Squier: please, in Jesus' name, understand that neither Avril nor Shakira can't play. My cat plays better! And neither diamonds nor signature series can change the fact that my cat's better. She can purr, too.

Face it: she sucks as a guitar player
Eric Clapton can be proud, he finally made it and now ranks as Avril. Kidding. She can't play.Reversed readstock, the Dino Cazares way.
