Jessica Simpson to Play Lucy Ewing

Robert Luketic leaves and Gurinder Chadha ("Bend it Like Beckham," "Vanity Fair") start talks with 20th Century Fox for directing the future "Dallas-The Movie" or however they might end up calling it.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gurinder Chadha will direct the movie as Robert Luketic decided to get involved in another project - Columbia Pictures's "21".

But here is another (more relevant, in my opinion) piece of news. The freshly and… spontaneous Jessica Simpson was offered a contract for the role of teenage niece of JR - Lucy.

Originally played by Charlene Tilton, Lucy Ewing's part, seems very fit for the busty blond who declared to MTV: "That would be an honor for me. I'm a Texas girl, so you can't go wrong there. But you know, however it all works out, I'm just kind of going with the flow, one day at a time."

Jennifer Lopez, Luke Wilson, John Travolta and Shirley MacLaine are told to have already signed up for the lead parts of Sue Ellen, Bobby, J.R and Miss Ellie, so it would be no surprise if Jessica Simpson took the part.


The producers remained the same (Michael Costigan and original TV show creator David Jacobs) and the show seems to be on the road towards the big screens. But some doubt the shooting will remain as scheduled and fear the movie's premiere on November 10th.

Also, Jessica Simpson is rumored to star in "Baywatch -The Movie". You talk about Hollywood's terrible lack of any kind of new ideas, don't you?
