14 DAY TRIAL // Jessica Simpson has finally found peace and love with fiancé and baby daddy Eric Johnson, but she’s now dealing with major heartbreak by way of her parents. Her mom Tina has just filed for divorce amid speculation that her dad, Joe Simpson aka Papa Joe in the press, is gay.
TMZ reports that Tina is the one who’s moving to end the 34-year marriage, having filed the necessary papers for it.
“The marriage has become insupportable because of Discord or conflict of personalities,” she cites as reason for the decision.
Tina also says she has separate property from Joe, which she intends to keep.
Joe has also filed papers, insisting that Tina get nothing in the split.
A rep for the (former) couple is confirming the split and, at the same time, denying all other rumors about the divorce.
“It is an amicable split and there is no third party involved. Any other related allegations are completely false. The family appreciates your respect for their privacy at this time,” the publicist says in the statement.
Radar Online says the real reason behind the divorce is Joe’s orientation: he’s gay and he’s been keeping this secret for years.
Insiders say for the e-zine that Joe gathered the entire family to come out, blindsiding everyone, including Tina.
“Joe got the family together about two months ago and came out of the closet. He told them that he’d tried to continue in his marriage to Tina, but he couldn’t go on any longer and deny the fact that he had these feelings for men. Joe said it wasn’t fair to her, and it wasn’t fair to him,” says a spy.
What Joe did not tell his family is that he’s already found a new lover in the person of a 20-year-old boy, the report further alleges.
