Jessica Simpson's father has recently declared that both Jessica and her husband, Nick Lachey, did not split and do not intend to.

During the past weeks, Jessica and Lachey battled with the media, trying to deny their split and rumors about Nick's infidelity with a college student, Danielle Calo, 19, and the lover of one of his best childhood friends.

Joe Simpson, Jessica's father and manager, has stated that the couple doesn't want to divorce or to split up, claiming their trip to Italy, to celebrate their third marriage anniversary, was very romantic.

He says: "They're still together... They just got back from Italy, where they were taking their anniversary vacation; they spent time together and they had a romantic dinner. Nick rented some museum place and had an orchestra and had an opera singer sing and they had a candlelight dinner."

Three weeks ago, Jessica stopped wearing her wedding ring, arguing she didn't feel like Nick Lachey's wife anymore. The singer has reportedly cried when she was asked why she had removed the ring.

Lachey, 31, and Simpson, 25, married October 26, 2002 and, during the summer of 2003, they have both starred in the reality show Newlyweds, airing on MTV.
