Jessica Simpson and Burt Reynolds in "The Dukes of Hazzard"

- Pop artist Jessica Simpson stars as Daisy in Chandrasekhar’s "The Dukes of Hazzard"

Jessica Simpson, who has recently turned 25, plays Daisy Duke in Jay Chandrasekhar’s movie The Dukes of Hazzard, based on the hit television series that ran from 1979-85. The Warner Bros. comedy will hit theatres on August 5.

The story written by Jonathan Davis, with revisions by John O'Brien and Broken Lizard, is set in present day, and follows the adventures of "good old boy" cousins, Bo (Seann William Scott) and Luke (Johnny Knoxville) Duke.

With the help of their eye-catching cousin Daisy (Jessica Simpson) and moonshine running Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson), they try and
save the family farm from being destroyed by Hazzard County's corrupt commissioner Boss Hogg (Burt Reynolds).

Their efforts constantly find the "Duke Boys" eluding authorities in "The General Lee," their famed 1969 orange Dodge Charger that keeps them one step ahead of the dimwitted antics of the small southern town's Sheriff Roscoe P. Coltrane (M.C. Gainey).

Jessica Simpson’s song "These boots are made for walking" is part of the soundtrack of the movie. The pop star’s video, in which she’s wearing a skimpy pink bikini while washing the General Lee was received with major protests by Christian groups, that are calling for apology.

The Texas-born singer, who is happily married to Nick Lachey has been rumored to have had an adventure on the set with her Dukes of Hazzard co-star Johnny Knoxville.
"I adore Johnny - we worked together and that's all that happened. (…) Nick and I are strong. It makes some people feel better to think we aren't. But we are. We are so in love. That is the truth. I can't worry too much about anything else", Jessica said.

The young singer and aspiring actress who wants to be "a diva... like people-totally-respect-my-music diva, not diva like carry-my-Diet-Coke-around", has released albums like Rejoyce: The Christmas Album; In This Skin; Irresistable and Sweet Kisses, and had a MTV crew follow her and her husband for the reality TV, the Newlyweds.

Jessica Simspon will also star in "Room Service", set for release in 2006.

Simspon will play Katya Morgan, a rich, pampered heiress who spends her days shopping, partying, and chasing guys.
Eventually, she is disinherited from the family fortune by her father. With no money to her name, and no job skills, Katya takes a job as a maid at the plush swank Royal Palmetto hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona.

But when she falls in love with Alex Sheridan, the general manager of the hotel where she works, Katya learns that getting what you don't want can sometimes be the best reward of all.
