Jessica Simpson Stages Intervention for Drunk Sister Ashlee

Ashlee Simpson is moving forward with the divorce from Pete Wentz and, as per the latest reports, she’s not handling it well. She’s started drinking so heavily that older sister Jessica is worried for her well-being and is thinking of staging an intervention.

The latest print issue of Star magazine (story via here) claims to have it on good authority that Ashlee is trying to drown her divorce-related sorrows in many bottles of wine.

Jessica, like any good older sister would be, is worried that this type of destructive behavior will ruin her for good – and she’s reportedly staging an intervention to save Ashlee from booze.

“Ashlee is downing eight to 10 bottled of wine a week. Jessica is on a mission to save Ashlee from self-destructing, and she told her to funnel her angst into songwriting,” an unnamed but admittedly reliable source says for the tab.

So worried is Jessica about Ashlee that she’s even put her wedding preparations temporarily on hold, to help her deal with her problems.

Her fiancé Eric Johnson is also on board, Star writes.

Not only is Jessica urging Ashlee to vent her pain and frustrations in her music, but she’s also lending her a hand in writing for her upcoming album.

“Jessica has also been writing with Ashlee, but refuses to take any professional songwriting credit. The biggest reward for Jess will be seeing her baby sister bounce back,” says the spy.

Oddly enough, if Ashlee is in so much pain and drinking so heavily as Star claims, she’s doing a wonderful job at hiding it: just recently, she was spotted out and about her new boyfriend, as we also informed you at the time.

His name is Vincent Piazza, whose acting credits include a role on “Boardwalk Empire,” and he’s been spotted walking hand in hand, and kissing Ashlee.

Nevertheless, celebrity pundits agree on one thing about the Star story: Ashlee is most definitely working on a comeback music album.
