Celebrities have made a “tradition” of selling the first photos of their offspring to the media. Jessica Simpson is said to have already struck a deal for an exclusive with People magazine, but a date for its publication has not been revealed yet.

Celebuzz says that Jess was offered $800,000 (€621,938) for the first shots of her baby daughter Maxwell, who was born at the beginning of the month.

People magazine will run the pics, but no one seems to know when that particular issue would be coming out.

“Following her very big pregnancy, Jessica Simpson has reportedly sold the first photos of baby Maxwell Johnson for a cool $800,000,” the celebrity e-zine says.

“The photos of her baby girl, her first child with fiance Eric Johnson, were bought by People magazine,” Celebuzz adds.

Of course, chances are high that Jessica will ditch this “tradition” and just reveal a photo of Maxwell on her Twitter / official page, the same channel she also chose to announce her pregnancy to the world.

Other celebrities have also done it (including Beyonce) and fans seem to love them even more afterwards.

However, if she doesn't and she, Eric and Maxwell will be featured in a People spread, Jessica will be paid considerably less than other stars who have opted for this method of introducing their newborn to the world.

“When Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins Emme and Max, she pocketed $6 million [€4.6 million] from People, while Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt famously received more than $11 million [€8.5 million] for the exclusive on their twins Knox and Vivienne,” Celebuzz points out.

Beyonce too could have gotten a similarly impressive paycheck, industry watchers say, but she chose to set up her own tumblr site to reveal the first pics of her firstborn, Blue Ivy Carter.
