Count on Jessica Simpson for always calling the spade a spade. On her first red carpet appearance since she announced she was pregnant with her first child, the star explained why the “pregnancy glow” is not all it's cracked up to be.

Jess and her fiancé Eric Johnson were in attendance at the 25th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Daily Mail informs, which marked her first official outing since the pregnancy announcement.

Dressed in a sleek and very flattering red dress, and looking better than she ever had, the expectant mommy shared a few jokes with reporters – including one about what the “pregnancy glow” actually is.

As she puts it, it's all a serious misunderstanding.

“People always say that pregnant women have a glow. And I say it's because you're sweating to death,” Jessica joked.

She went on to say that she personally believed that pregnant woman often hear about how they “glow” because others around them are trying to make them feel better.

“I think they just tell pregnant women they're glowing to make them feel good about themselves, because everything makes them a little bit emotional,” she said.

With all that, even if some may be tempted to believe that Jessica's pregnancy is not a walk in the park and that she's feeling uncomfortable most of the time, she's eager to have more babies after this one is born.

“Pregnancy was meant for me – it really was. I can't wait to have more kids. I love being pregnant,” the star gushed.

In recent interviews and on her Twitter feed, Jessica has also been talking about other, less glamorous aspects of pregnancy, like saying that she now passes considerably more gas daily than she did before.

Simpson also joked about wanting to give birth in high heels, saying she had no immediate plans of going for more comfy shoes.
