Jessica Simpson is in negotiations to star opposite stand-up comedian Dane Cook in Employee of the Month for Lions Gate Films, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Dules of Hazard star will portray a sexy cashier that makes the employees at a discount superstore go ga-ga, while Cook plays one of two dorky workers who are vying for her attention by competing for the "Employee of the Month" honor. Lions Gate is eyeing a spring start date.
The movie is to be directed by Gregory Coolidge from his own script.
Coolidge's other writing credits include the 2002 comedy Sorority Boys and the forthcoming cop comedy Ride Along, which has The Rock and Ryan Reynolds attached. He wrote and directed the indie flick Queen for a Day.
Jessica wants to have an acting career and she is determined to work for it.
Her father, Joe Simpson, wants to help, so he decided to produce the movie.
The Newlyweds star is said to try and demonstrate she has no problems with her husband, Nick Lachey, but rumors imply that she has been talking to Jennifer Aniston about her marriage.
