Jessica Simpson is coming back to the small screen but, this time, we’re not talking about a reality show or a fashion competition. The singer and fashion designer has landed a role in a new NBC sitcom, based on her life.
She will be playing herself, of course.
Check out Jessica’s interview with Jay Leno on the subject.
Now pregnant with her second child, Simpson will be playing herself (or a loosely adapted version of herself) in the sitcom, while professional actors will be cast to play the other important figures in her life, like her fiancé or her father / manager.
In other words, this new NBC series would be at the border of reality television and scripted programming.
“From running a fashion empire to wrangling her public image as a new mom, we see Jessica’s character approach a variety of ‘everyday’ circumstances that will get audiences laughing out loud,” producer Ben Silverman says.
The new series doesn’t have a working title yet.
