Jessica Simpson Is Named ‘Style Icon of the Year’

Jessica Simpson is not only the most successful celebrity designer of the moment, but also the most stylish star, says Us Weekly. In an interview for the latest print issue, Jessica also talks about her favorite styles – and which are the items she has a hard time pulling off.

Despite the fact that her music career has come to a grinding halt, do not feel sorry for Jessica Simpson: it was recently revealed that sales for her clothing and accessories line are expected to top $1 billion.

This literally makes her the biggest celebrity designer out there, and it’s hard to imagine another to top her anytime soon.

Simpson says that she explains her success by the fact that she doesn’t make any compromise when it comes to her creations: she approves each and every item she puts out, and she makes sure they’re the right mix of style and availability.

This probably explains why Us names her “Style Icon of the Year,” though Jessica says in the interview (all quotes via here) that she’s more of a casual dresser.

‘Very laid-back, with hints of flash,” Simpson tells the magazine of her trademark style.

“I love to wear denim with a corset, or the opposite: a flannel shirt over a dress. Even if I’m walking around my house in Uggs and my favorite yummy sweater, I still have on a headband or something cute,” she adds.

Simpson admits that high-wasted jeans are one of the items she can rarely pull off because she’s short and curvy: unless she wants to appear heavier, she needs to be very careful with what she accessorizes them.

“My sister can put anything on and it works. My curves are a challenge. I have to be more conscious of what I’m wearing so I don’t look like a complete tool. Ashlee is a rock star,” Simpson says.

She also admits that she feels a complete woman when she’s with her fiancé Eric, who finds her adorable even when she’s blowing her nose, and confirms that she wants to be involved in the designing of her own wedding gown.
