Jessica Simpson Hospitalized Because of Booze

- The singer's kidney condition was brought about by a lot of boozing and hard partying

By: Monica Gaza, Entertainment News Editor

Jessica Simpson was hospitalized for a few days a little over two weeks ago, and details are now emerging that might point out her rumored kidney infection was triggered by a very agitated lifestyle and a dramatic
increase in her alcohol consumption. Star magazine broke the story citing "inside sources" - which can only mean that someone had access to Jessica's medical records and we might be dealing with yet another Britney-style breach of ethics, courtesy of the good (and nosy) people at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. The magazine claims that Jessica did indeed have a kidney infection triggered by alcohol abuse, and that she also demanded a pregnancy test.

The source quoted by Star reports that Simpson's illness and subsequent hospitalization "brought on by drinking an obscene amount of alcohol. She was treated for a kidney infection, a bladder infection and a urinary tract infection". The same insider adds on her admission, Jessica was extremely distressed, anxious and asked the doctors for a pregnancy test. "She was a nervous wreck. She was three weeks late and convinced she was pregnant. She was feeling really weak and really scared. She was unraveling," reports the source. Star also adds that Jessica's much-hyped relationship with Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo sent the singer over the edge, and that she once again took to hard partying and boozing, which in turn caused her infection. Of course, the source of the alleged boozing could also be the fact that Jessica's relationship with Romo brought the singer a lot of stress and bad press.

Star doesn't mention anything about the outcome of Jessica's alleged pregnancy test – but since any positive results would probably have made headlines, it's probably safe to assume there's only one pregnant Simpson sister at the moment. It will be interesting to follow the outcome of this whole situation and learn whether indeed some more Cedars-Sinai employees will be sacked for prying into the confidential medical files of their star patients and selling the information to the highest bidder. In the meantime, Jessica's condition improved and the singer was released after spending four days in the hospital. Stay tuned for more news on Jessica's health and hard-partying ways.
