Mrs. Eric Johnson is on her honeymoon but she wants you to tag along too

Jessica Simpson is a married woman again: after a long engagement (as in, longer than expected) to Eric Johnson, the two tied the knot over the 4th of July weekend, in a gorgeous, “Great Expectations”-themed ceremony at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. Jessica is now Mrs. Eric Johnson.

This is how her father, Joe Simpson, who officiated the religious ceremony, introduced them to the world after they said their “I Do”s: “I present to you Mr. and Mrs. Eric Johnson!,” as seen in the wedding video that emerged online yesterday.

A thrilled Jessica screeched and then kissed her husband’s hand. She seems to be pondering taking his name legally as well, because she posted the photo above to her Instagram a few hours ago, with the caption, “Jessica Johnson.”

That’s Mrs. Eric Johnson on her honeymoon, taking in the sun while enjoying a glass of refreshment and showing off her hard-earned post-pregnancy figure. The best Weight Watchers advertisement if we ever saw one!

If there’s a way to announce a name change, this is probably the most interesting for fans because, let’s be honest, it’s difficult to beat a swimsuit picture as sizzling as this one.

Of course, while people online are already busy speculating that Jessica might change her name legally to Jessica Johnson to mark this new stage in her life, there’s little indication that it will happen, besides the photo and the caption.

Simpson has made herself into a brand: she’s a very successful businesswoman and fashion designer, who comes from a very lucrative run as a singer and actress as well. Rebranding herself as Jessica Johnson might take too long and be too expensive, so, if only for this reason, she might decide it wouldn’t be worth the effort, no matter how much she liked Eric’s family name.

This is a problem that Kim Kardashian also had to deal with when she tied the knot with rapper Kanye West. At first, it was said that she was “determined” to take his name after marriage and ditch the Kardashian moniker for good but, upon more consideration, she realized she couldn’t do that without loss of revenue because, whether we like it or not, Kim Kardashian is a brand.

In the end, Kim opted for the much easier and elegant solution of taking the name Kardashian-West. This way, her loyal fans and customers can still refer to her as “Kardashian” and she gets to keep Kanye’s name too.

In other words, it would probably not be that strange if, when she gets back from her honeymoon, Jessica announces she’ll be known as Jessica Simpson-Johnson from then on.
