Jessica Simpson is making her return to television with a new show, called “The Price of Beauty.” As its name also implies, the show focuses on proving that beauty is a relative concept that is subject to changes depending on the country or region you’re in. To further promote the new series, Jessica appears in the May 2010 issue of Marie Claire without makeup and retouching, as Us Magazine informs.

In recent months, Simpson has been increasingly vocal about how standards in showbiz narrow women’s choices in terms of their style. At the same time, the star also set out on a mission to show that a woman – such as herself – is still beautiful even if she does not fit the norm. Saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder may be a cliché, but the truth is that it’s very accurate, Simpson has been saying in her more recent interviews.

“Glamour girl? For the May cover of Marie Claire, Jessica Simpson went without makeup or retouching. The reason: To promote her new initiative, ‘A Beautiful Me,’ a program she is launching next month to encourage young women to love themselves and feel comfortable in their own skin. ‘I don’t have anything to prove anymore,’ says the singer, 29, who once admitted to getting too much Restylane in her lips. ‘What other people think of me is not my business’,” Us Magazine writes, citing Jessica herself.

This is not the first time Jessica states she’s fed up with trying to be what people want her to be, and her determination to be herself for once – and gain acceptance as such. In another recent interview, the singer and actress revealed she had new-found confidence in herself and an improved body-image, after realizing that she’d gotten to a point in her career where she could simply do things her way – as regards her figure as well.

“I think people are looking at what models look like. I am not a model. I am 5-foot-3. I don’t look like a model. That is not my profession. Women dress more for other women. I think that they want to be in shape more for other women. I want a man to look at me and think I look good,” Jessica said a while ago, as we also reported.
