Despite her publicist’s statements that she is a perfectionist always looking to see the job well done, it seems that there is one mishap that Jessica Simpson can’t simply avoid, and that’s remembering the lyrics to her own songs. Just like she did before, the singer fumbled through the lyrics on her final show as well, Us Magazine reports.

Granted, she could just have been nervous, the aforementioned publication says, since this was her final performance of her tour with the Rascal Flatts. Fans gathered at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Irvine, Calif., might not have been of the same opinion, though, no matter how much Simpson apologized for the mishaps and tried to play them down by doing the tracks again.

“I’m just so excited to be here doing this. It’s a dream come true. I feel like I’ve been given a second chance.” Jessica kicked off the night by saying. Things went a bit sour soon enough, as she forgot the lyrics for the “Remember That” ballad, which deals with the troubles of a woman caught in an abusive relationship. “Oops! I said whiskey too early! I messed up! I’m so embarrassed! But I’m starting over again because I really want you guys to hear the lyrics the right way.” Jessica told when she missed the opening lines of the song.

Later on, though, she did it again, this time with “Still Don’t Stop Me,” whose opening line she also messed up. A visibly-embarrassed Jessica, “blushing and running her fingers through her hair,” said to the audience that this was one thing that she simply couldn't avoid during live concerts, no matter how much she tried. “I messed up again! I do this all the time!” Simpson explained for the fans laughing.

Either way, the concert ended on a much brighter note, with Jessica doing a cover of Robbie Williams’ “Angels” and dedicating “Come On Over” to Dolly Parton, her longtime idol. This was Simpson’s final performance – what follows next is yet to be established, but rumors in the blogosphere have it that she’s seriously considering taking a year off music to see to her personal life and, perhaps, think of a career change since her foray into country music did not fare as well as expected.
