Jessica Simpson, now expecting her first child, is believed to be due sometime in March, though she wouldn't say more than that she's having a “spring baby.” She might be keeping the secret because she's thinking of having a C-section.
In fact, the way the baby will be delivered is proving a real bone of contention with her fiancé, Eric Johnson, the latest print issue of The National Enquirer claims (story via here).
Following earlier reports that Jessica dropped out o Lamaze classes because she realized a natural birth wasn't for her, The Enquirer is now saying that she's decided already for a C-section.
However, Eric is none too happy about it, because he always imagined she would be giving birth at home.
“As Jessica Simpson’s due date approaches [she] is butting heads with fiancé Eric Johnson over how she should give birth. The 31 year-old wants a C-Section but her beau thinks she should deliver naturally, says sources,” the celebrity publication writes.
For the time being, it would seem the two can't agree on it.
“Jessica initially wanted a natural birth but changed her mind. And now she’s fighting with Eric about the delivery,” a source is quoted as saying.
“He thinks the baby should have a natural water birth, while she wants to have a C-section so she doesn’t have to deal with a prolonged labor or pain,” adds the spy.
Part of the reason she wants to have a C-section is that she feels exhausted and wants to see the baby as soon as possible.
“She’s tired of carrying the baby, feeling boated and experiencing the usual inconveniences of being pregnant. And with the hormones really kicking in, Jessica put her foot down. If she wants a C-section, I am sure she’ll get one,” the insider goes on to say.
Ever since she announced she was expecting her first child, Jessica never ceased to generate media attention, especially on part of the tabloids.
Just this week, for instance, another publication of this kind said that she was gaining too much weight during the pregnancy and that it could put her and the baby's health at risk, as we also reported at the time.

She's no different than any other pregnant woman. We ALL feel exhausted, bloated, heavy, sluggish and irritable too and what mother doesn't wanna see her baby ASAP? Please, shut up. THIS is news????? Pfffft. Wow, where's the REAL media. |
| Comment #1.1 by: be real lemon-head on 27 Feb 2012, 05:06 GMT | I think just about all of the movie stars have c-sections, because they can't deal with pain.
they should try it. it will give them more to appreciate. Movie stars don't know how to deal with any type of things, like weight gain, they just suck the fat out,or they personal dietians or chefs to make sure they stay thin. they rarely spend time with their children, they have nanny's for that. They don't do their own stunts, most of them never finished school and the majority of them have famous parents who send them to acting school.
Very few have really paid their dues most of it has been handed to them and don't appreciate how wonderful to have a baby the way it was intended to. But I'm glad she found some one , I really think her and Nick Lachey should of stayed together, this would of been their baby, but Jessica's dad was to blame for their break up, the * |
| Comment #2 by: kmarie66 on 25 Feb 2012, 20:35 UTC | reply to this comment | Can't believe the stupidity of people who demand unnecessary C-sections. A C-section is MAJOR abdominal surgery. Women who opt for c/s to avoid the pain of labor are forgetting about the risk of complications r/t surgery for both her and the baby (bleeding, infection, surgical error, adverse reactions to anesthesia, increased incidence of Transient Tachypnea of the Newborn etc.) PLUS....POST-OP pain DUH!!!! You "avoid" labor pain only to "accept" up to 2 weeks of discomfort r/t the incision and manipulation of abdominal wall. Cesarean is a surgical option recommended by your physician to promote the health and well-being of the mother, the baby, or both; not for convenience! |
| Comment #3 by: Blondie on 25 Feb 2012, 21:34 UTC | reply to this comment | I think she is acting like a big baby, a brat. when you get pregnant, you do get fat and it is uncomfortable at the end, but natural birth is beautiful, no matter how exhausted you are or use the excuse that you want to see the baby as soon as possible. That is ridiculous. Grow up Jessica and have the baby natural. It only hurts for a little while and believe me, it is worth the wait. |
| Comment #3.1 by: lilygirl on 29 Feb 2012, 15:14 GMT | It's so interesting that you're so quick to call someone names, not knowing if they will read this or not, based on what this idiot wrote in this article. Maybe you missed the part that said "The National Enquirer states.." cause honestly, who listens to what they have to say anyways? Oh wait...all you bashers commenting to this bogus article do. How about trying to find something to be happy in life instead of knocking someone else down to make yourself feel better. Just sayin... |
| Comment #3.2 by: Elena Gorgan on 29 Feb 2012, 16:34 GMT | @lilygirl, talk about "knocking someone else down to make yourself feel better."
Thank you for your comment, it was a delight. :)
Signed,
The "idiot who wrote the article" |
| Comment #4 by: jewel on 25 Feb 2012, 21:44 UTC | reply to this comment | What an idiot. Doesn't want the pain. Guess she didn't know how babies get here. Or thinks it doesn't mean her. And yes, she does look like a big blob |
| Comment #5 by: ramy on 26 Feb 2012, 00:13 UTC | reply to this comment | you can choose to have a c section rather than normal birth? Unheard of in
my day. Something is wrong with this. These women are "afraid" to give
birth naturally. They would never make it in the real world. |
| Comment #6 by: Awesome blossom on 26 Feb 2012, 00:16 UTC | reply to this comment | It amazes me how anyone thinks a c-section is the easy way out. I have had two such deliveries. After completing Lamaze classes I was preparing for a natural birth. With my first baby, after several hours of labor, a c-section had to be performed. The clueless doctor didn't know he was a breech baby. This was 28 years ago. I refused all pain meds because I wanted to breast feed and I worried about my baby getting some of them. I was in great pain, feeling like I had been cut in two. I also ended up with a horrible infection, as did my baby. With my second baby, a daughter, I was told I would need another c-section. She was born after I insisted on letting my labor start before I went to the hospital. There are alot of beneficial things happening to a pregnant woman's body once labor starts, that ultimately help the baby. With the pain, risk of infection, and the overall risk of just walking into a hospital these days, good luck to all who choose that route. |
| Comment #7 by: Awesome blossom on 26 Feb 2012, 00:33 UTC | reply to this comment | After posting my comments a few minutes ago, here's one last thing. There is alot of scar tissue that could become an issue after c-sections. I was plagued by problems that scar tissue was causing. I believe c-sections should be used only in an emergency, not for the convenience of the patient or the doctor. I don't mind repeating myself by saying the risk of infection is HUGE. My babies were born in a top neo-natal rated hospital, by the chief of staff! My son had to spends days in the neo-natal ward after getting infected. Even my daughter had an extended stay due to jaundice. I was so worried she would end up infected until I was finally able to take her home. Problems occur everywhere I know, but don't think any surgery is an easy way out if it is unnecessary. |
| Comment #8 by: Rose on 26 Feb 2012, 00:41 UTC | reply to this comment | A c-section is scary to have,it's longer to heal. And your body, tummy muscles does not go back because they are cut,it's ugly. Natural is best,so you know when to push you have to feel something! Be Brave Jessica, don't let them butcher you! |
| Comment #9 by: nellie on 26 Feb 2012, 01:50 UTC | reply to this comment | She needs to grow up. Only have a C-Section if its needed..,. |
| Comment #10 by: Shoppingirl on 26 Feb 2012, 03:07 UTC | reply to this comment | I think she needs to grow up and deliver the baby with an epidural, in a hospital and suck it up. C-sections are not for an everyday delivery--only if there are complications. Furthurmore, the pain after the c-section is much worse than a natural delivery. I've had both! |
| Comment #11 by: LaLa on 26 Feb 2012, 03:14 UTC | reply to this comment | I had a c-section with my first and only child. Nobody else was gonna push that baby out for me, so nobody should have an opinion on how she chooses to deliver the baby she is carying. That is unless her fiance would like to push a baby out of his body as well! |
| Comment #12 by: Bobby on 26 Feb 2012, 04:23 UTC | reply to this comment | C section are dangerous because of muscle damage. She has wide hips, the baby will not have trouble exiting |
| Comment #13 by: Merry on 26 Feb 2012, 04:48 UTC | reply to this comment | The National Enquirer is Not a reliable source of information. But if J.S. is really considering it I would advise-NO! I had to have my babies that way and it Hurts like H...! |
| Comment #14 by: faye davis on 26 Feb 2012, 13:26 UTC | reply to this comment | really if i knew back in the day what i know now i would have had a c section myself but a c section was done thru difficult births go for the c section if the father wants to deal with the pain at home spread his legs open and let him feal the pain and every so often hit him that should really let him fell pain ha ha no big deal in giving natural child birth it hurts like hell and no man i don't think as of today can tell a woman to the extent of that pain nor hpw long it will be |
| Comment #15 by: Nosie nana on 26 Feb 2012, 13:50 UTC | reply to this comment | Incredibly self-centered decision. I'm not for the "home water birth" either - too much potential danger for the infant. But EVERY mother-to-be is exhausted and wants to see her baby right away. That doesn't mean she gets a C-section - which should only be allowed when medically necessary. A good indication of the selfish mother she is going to be. |
| Comment #16 by: jujube on 26 Feb 2012, 17:16 UTC | reply to this comment | My daughter had to have an emergency c-section which in her case meant a t incision. They were waiting for her as soon as she got to the hospital they had her on a gurney and a nurse on it with her prepping her as they raced to surgery 1st cut through the skin was north-south 2nd cut through the uterus was east west. It took 8 weeks to heal with LOTS of pain and discomfort. On the other hand I gave birth to my aforementioned daughter after 6 hours of labor using the Lamaze method. I was up walking around the hospital the same night and was pretty much pain free in a couple days. I think Miss Simpson may be misinformed on which way is less painful. On the other hand - Hollywood loves c-sections because as long as they are already on the table they get the requisite TUMMY TUCK so everyone can ooh and ahh at how fast they lost the baby weight. Idiots. |
| Comment #17 by: camille on 26 Feb 2012, 18:02 UTC | reply to this comment | I'm a nurse & know that a C-Section is only warranted for medical reasons (i.e., a vaginal delivery would be dangerous to the mom or baby) and for a VALID reason....not because the mom doesn't want to deal with pain. I hate to tell her, but the pain after a C-Section from the large incision is pretty painful & takes several days to resolve...unlike the birthing pain which is over in a matter of hours not days. Not to even mention the risk one takes with a C-Section...such as more bleeding, potential for infection, risk from the longer, deeper anesthesia, etc. These risks shouldn't be taken lightly unless there is ample evidence that a natural delivery isn't medically safe. She might get her way because she's a celebrity, but it doesn't make it right. I feel a little sorry for her husband who is getting left in the dust with this decision....hope its not a sign of things to come in this relationship! |
| Comment #18 by: mad on 26 Feb 2012, 18:27 UTC | reply to this comment | I really don't think it is anybodys business but hers. As for the lunk head she is engaged to, tell him to go take a flying leap.
Mom of 2 |
| Comment #19 by: jnmama on 26 Feb 2012, 19:45 UTC | reply to this comment | I'd tell him, "Honey, when you are able to pop a baby out yourself, you do it any way you want. But, as long as I am doing it, I am large and in charge and doing it MY WAY!" |
| Comment #20 by: arlweb on 26 Feb 2012, 20:46 UTC | reply to this comment | Jessica if i were you i would try to go wth natural but in a hospital setting. If your baby is large which it could very well be,the doctor will be the one to decide about a c-section.If you are experiencing a great deal of pain theres no shame in getting some pain medication to make you comfortable. Also some patients need a little oxygen. You could be, if lucky enough ,one who has easy deliveries. However the decision is yours and yours alone.P.S>YOU ARE NOT A BLOB,YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL EXPECTANT MOTHER AND A LITTLE SHORTER THAN SOME AND IT SHOWS MORE.GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS,ARLENE,MOTHER OF 7. |
| Comment #21 by: tk on 26 Feb 2012, 20:52 UTC | reply to this comment | It's really up to her and her doctor. Just wish Jessica a safe and healthy delivery. |
| Comment #22 by: Tawanda on 26 Feb 2012, 20:58 UTC | reply to this comment | None of my business really, however...grow up and have it natural! Its not as bad as you think...don't be a "Babie" it's supposta to hurt Jessica! |
| Comment #23 by: CatRod53 on 26 Feb 2012, 21:17 UTC | reply to this comment | Jessica Simpson needs to grow up! Does she really want to have a baby or did she just want to be pregnant? It's not all about quitting because it's not fun anymore - what will she do when the baby's crying all night long instead of being cute and cuddly? |
| Comment #24 by: Gramma*Kitty on 26 Feb 2012, 22:49 UTC | reply to this comment | Her baby, her body, leave her alone! |
| Comment #25 by: andrea on 27 Feb 2012, 00:00 UTC | reply to this comment | He's not having the baby and should keep his mouth shut!! |
| Comment #26 by: jenniferprincess on 27 Feb 2012, 04:40 UTC | reply to this comment | First of all, before everyon egets so excitied to bash her, I think it is funny that you are all getting worked up by some article ,you are reading in a magazine. I would be willing to bet its not even true! People leave her and her finance alone! Seriously!! |
| Comment #27 by: bla on 27 Feb 2012, 05:09 UTC | reply to this comment | If she thinks a c section is less pain and less prolonged she's in for a VERY rude awakening. |
| Comment #28 by: Cat and Dog Lover on 27 Feb 2012, 07:15 UTC | reply to this comment | Is she crazy a C-Section is far worse than delivering a baby naturally...she is going to find out the hard way. Good for Eric he sounds like a caring and nurturing guy...Jessica you should listen to him!! Good Luck You Two on this Happy Arrival!!! |
| Comment #29 by: Jessicafan on 29 Feb 2012, 00:58 UTC | reply to this comment | well i love Jessica and im a mom as well, however if the Dr feels its unsafe for her to delivery naturally then i understand. But if the Dr okays it then she should.. its safer and easier recovery... However its her body and she's probably afraid, but she should be more afraid of the knife....... | |
