Jessica Simpson shocks her body with vegan detox diet, insists it’s not about losing weight but staying healthy

Jessica Simpson’s weight and curvier figure have generated more media these past few months than her endeavors at launching a successful career in television again. In all fairness, the star has used her recent weight gain to attract attention on the media’s bashing of women with curves and, on a more general note, America’s obsession with size 0. Jessica’s latest tweets open up the subject again, the Daily Mail informs.

Though she’s far from overweight, Jessica Simpson got under heavy fire with the media for no other apparent reason than gaining a few pounds. Consequently, she set out to turn the tables on the tabloids and send out the message that health and a healthy body image are all that matter. Which only makes her decision to go on a detox diet all the more potentially controversial, the Mail points out, since she may be trying to lose weight while advocating for body acceptance.

“Curvy and proud Jessica Simpson flaunted her shapely figure at a red carpet event in West Virginia today. The singer and TV star, who turns 30 next week, chose to accentuate her hourglass form with a fitted halter neck gown that featured gold detailing. She told her Twitter fans she was eager to try out her luck at the new venue, writing: 'Might just have to hit up those blackjack tables!' The Dukes of Hazzard star embarked on a strict detox diet ahead of the event, but she insisted it was about feeling good, not losing pounds,” the Mail says.

“'Shocked my system with a vegan diet, special Pu-erh tea from China, and cupping since Friday!’ she tweeted this week. Chinese Puerh tea is widely marketed as a weight loss drink while cupping is an ancient Chinese healing practice which involves placing heated glass suction cups on your skin to 'suck out' the body's toxins. She later explained: 'Just so everyone is clear… this has NOTHING to do with weight!. It is about understanding my body through hydration and alkalinity',” the British tab further says.

While fans are most likely buying Jessica’s explanation that she’s not trying to lose weight but is just detoxing, bloggers are quick to say that she’s being hypocritical about the whole situation. She would not go to such lengths if she was only trying to rid her body of toxins, they say – so perhaps if would be fair to her fans if she simply admitted that she wanted to lose a few pounds to feel better about herself, it is being said.
