A new hunting season scheduled to debut in Minnesota this coming November 9 might be suspended. Provided that governor Mark Dayton gives in to Jessica Lange's pleas and agrees to cancel it, that is.

Fox tells us that, in an attempt to save the state's wolf population from being killed by hunters just for the fun of it, Jessica Lange has sent an open letter to Governor Mark Dayton.

“I ask that you show leadership on this issue by suspending the 2013-14 wolf hunt and direct all concerned state government bodies and agencies to get back to their stated goals of ensuring the long-term survival of the wolf in Minnesota, and reducing conflicts between wolves and humans,” the actress urges.

In her letter, the actress points out that, although nobody can blame people for wanting to kill wolves that threaten their livestock and families, it most certainly isn't OK to kill these animals for entertainment purposes alone.

“Nearly all Minnesotans believe the wolf is an asset that should be protected for future generations,” the actress reportedly writes in her letter.

“We know that the random killing of non-problem wolves tears apart wolf families and diminishes their ability to survive and reproduce,” Jessica Lange further argues.

According to the same source, 2,000 early season and 1,300 late season licenses were made available for this year's wolf hunting season in Minnesota.
