Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are husband and wife, having tied the knot over the weekend in a very private ceremony in Italy. It was also extremely expensive, it has emerged.

Radar Online claims to have it on very good authority that Justin and Jessica’s nuptials were the most expensive celebrity weddings so far, even topping Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries’ extravagant affair of last year.

“The average American wedding currently costs about $27,021 [€20,713] but Justin and Jessica's wedding is estimated to cost $6.5 million [€4.97 million], only being beat out by the Royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William, estimated at a staggering $34 million [€26.01 million],” Radar writes.

Sadly, it does not have more details on what the money actually went on, but it does state for a fact that it was the most expensive celebrity wedding in recent times.

We can only imagine that the location and the fact that celebrations lasted for nearly a week might have added to the final bill.

“Justin and Jessica tied the knot in southern Italy and the actual ceremony was preceded by a week of festivities for their wedding guests, including bike rides, parties and a fireworks show which greatly raised their wedding cost,” Radar also points out.

Justin and Jessica got married without telling anyone but their close family members and friends. This way, word of the ceremony only got out in the press when it was too late – that is, “too late” to send paparazzi to try and get pictures.

After the event, the newlyweds released a statement to confirm the reports, but refused to say more on the topic.

“It's great to be married, the ceremony was beautiful and it was so special to be surrounded by our family and friends,” Justin and Jessica said.
