As a rule, Jessica Biel doesn’t like to talk about herself in magazine interviews, unless she’s allowed to complain about the pressure she’s constantly under to
look good for the cameras and perhaps about how she
can’t get any good parts because she’s too beautiful. The July 2010 issue of
Glamour magazine is different, though, as not only is Biel more honest than ever, but also more open.
In the interview, the actress, who can now be seen in what is believed to become one of this summer’s bigger blockbusters, “The A-Team,” talks about what it’s like to be with singer and actor Justin Timberlake, her dropping out of college and the challenges of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Biel also talks a bit about her fashion sense, of which she claims she has very little, being a tomboy and how she can relate to her character in the action-packed remake of the ‘80s classic television series, which premiered this Friday in US theaters.
“I do still have a desire, a pang in my heart, when I think about it and the fact that I didn’t spend my four years with my friends,” Biel says of having to drop out of college to pursue a career in movies. Of course, on second thought, the decision was not a bad one in the long run, even if it came with several pretty obvious downsides. “I didn’t stay with my friend Hayden in our apartment – I bailed and she ended up living with some random people. I still feel bad. But then again, I’ve had wonderful experiences,” Jessica adds.
“I’m not someone who has this amazing instinct about fashion. Sometimes I cannot be bothered… I just thrown on whatever is comfortable. I literally spent most of my teenage years in Umbro shorts and No Fear T-shirts,” the actress says of her tomboy ways. As for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for charity, Jessica says that was a very valuable lesson. “I’ve learned that I can push forward, which was exciting for me. When you get out into the wilderness and strip [away] all of the stuff in your everyday life, you really gain a great respect for your own life, simply as it is. Needing things starts to feel like, Oh, I kind of have everything, don’t I? It’s pretty great,” she explains.
In the same interview, Jessica effectively puts to rest rumors that she and Justin Timberlake are either split or on the rocks, not by denying them (since even a publicist can do that), but by speaking of their wonderful life together. Their relationship is like when two beautiful worlds meet, is how Jessica would best describe her long-term romance with the singer and actor.
