Jessica Alba is officially going green – in fact, she has gone already. Just a few days ago, she launched the eco-friendly Honest Co line that includes anything from diapers to home and baby skincare products.

In a new interview with the New York Daily News, the gorgeous actress explains how the idea for the line was more of an “a-ha moment” and how it was born out of her frustrations as a mother of two small children.

Jessica and husband Cash Warren have two daughters together.

The “a-ha moment” came when she learned she was allergic to a baby-safe detergent, so she started thinking about coming out with a range of products that would be safe, eco-friendly, green.

She also focused on making them affordable and, just as important, very appealing to the eye because, she says, not everything green has to be ugly.

“I’m like, just because it’s eco why does it have to be brown, beige, or have a green leaf on it?” Jessica says.

The diapers from the Honest Co line, for instance, come in various models, including with imprints of ice cream cones, flowers and skull-and-crossbones, this last one a tribute to late fashion designer, the enfant terrible of the industry, Alexander McQueen.

However, in coming out with the line, Alba had to tackle other important issues than just looks. Affordability was one of them.

“I would talk to my brother – he has two kids – and I talk to my sister-in-law and my cousins, they’re like, 'Well, we can’t afford that.' Then I was like, 'How in the world is a safer and healthier product only available to those in a higher tax bracket?' That was my big a-ha moment!” she says in the interview.

Now that Honest Co is out, Alba plans to be even more involved than before in the lives of the customers she aims to serve.

She's also willing to help out with advice and recommendation all moms that will reach out to her.

“I’m in the office, totally. If they have a question about parenting or if they’re like, 'My baby’s doing this or that,' I can help in any way I can... It’s nice talking to other parents,” she says.
