Jessica Alba’s worth as an actress is debatable, but there’s no denying that she has one of the best bodies in the industry. She works hard for her figure, as she reveals in a new interview for Shape Magazine; it comes with a stunning spread in which she showcases it in a variety of colorful, gorgeous swimsuits.

Not only does she work hard to look this good, but she’ll be the first one to admit that it’s not always roses. In fact, Jessica reveals for the magazine, she thinks working out sucks. But that doesn’t mean she can get away with not doing it.

Staying motivated is key

First things first, the actress and very successful businesswoman admits that finding motivation to exercise can be difficult, especially when your schedule is already packed to the max. Since she runs her business, and is also raising 2 girls, she knows all about feeling stretched out.

Still, she found just the things to keep her motivated: the knowledge that she has to set an example for her daughters and the need for outside pressure to give it her best. The first one is easy: she wants her daughters to lead healthy and happy lives, to be body-confident and have a healthy relationship with food. She obviously can’t do that if she doesn’t practice what she teaches.

The second one is her way of making sure she overcomes those moments when she feels she would be better off if she didn’t get the workout: she does classes instead of solo sessions with her personal trainers. She says this makes her “accountable.”

Alba reveals grueling workout routine

As for the actual types of exercise she gets, they are plenty. You don’t get the kind of figure she has without putting in the time and the effort.

On the bright side, every little bit counts, she says.

“I have to break a sweat or I don’t feel like I’ve gotten anything done. When I only have 30 minutes, I’ll do a series of burpees, mountain climbers, squat jumps, planks, and a few sun salutations,” she shares. “I do power yoga with light weights in a 105-degree room, so it’s a mix of hot yoga and strength training. I also spin.”

Before all this, Jessica also did gymnastics, dance and martial arts, which she started when she was working on “Dark Angel.”
