Jessica Alba has long had the rather unflattering reputation of a whiner - or, to be more precise, one of those celebrities who have no problem with promoting themselves as actresses and enjoying all the comforts and privileges of being a celebrity, and yet are frightened to death of smiling and of doing those small little things that celebrities do to show their appreciation towards their fans.

And as I said in the past, it's quite easy to cross the line from being shy to being sulky and then to being a hypocrite, intenting only on taking and not doing too much giving. I always used to think that Jessica's "I'm not that interesting, leave me alone" attitude was simply a pretext for not interacting with the press - but something about a recent interview she did with iF magazine made me... well, not yet reconsider, but maybe think she's not as annoying as I once used to.

"The thing is, I think it's in England where you can't show the kids' faces and that is right because they're not in the public eye and I think if they could do that here it would be wonderful" she stated, when asked to talk about her fear of the paparazzi now that she's pregnant. "When I started acting it wasn't this bad. It's bizarre and it seems like anybody

can buy a camera and call themselves a paparazzi and stalk people for a living. It's really strange. I'm not doing any interesting or salacious. I'm going to the gym because it's good for me and the baby and going to the grocery store because we need food in the house and it's really not that interesting. I'm not trying to be out there in that way" she added.

I do admit she sounds a little more good natured in this interview than she has been so far, but I'm still not really sure what to think - I mean, we all know that once you start playing the celebrity fan game, you have to admit it comes at a price, and public exposure is a big part of that. Take it or leave it, I suppose.

"They cut me off" she says, referring to the way paparazzi behave when they're around her. "I've had to call the police a few times when I've been scared. They go in front of the lights and cut me off so they can stay with me but what if they're running a red light when someone doesn't see them? They just don't care. It's too bad".

Well, I think she may have a point here, and in the light of everything that happened to Britney recently and all the exaggerated media attention she got, I admit it must be pretty traumatizing to be hounded day and night. However, one question I always ask myself is this: there are plenty of celebrities out there who like to keep their lives private and succeed in doing so - how do they manage, then? But I suppose that is a question for the ages. I'm curious to see how the Jessica "media grudge" will evolve in the coming months though. Stay tuned.
