Fans were enraged when Jesse Eisenberg, the dorky-looking actor from “The Social Network” was announced as playing the role of Lex Luthor in the latest Superman movie, but then again they were even more upset when Ben Affleck landed the role of Batman.

We're not even going to talk about how Gal Gadot landed the role of Super Woman and all the controversy it generated. We're going to focus on Jesse here, who has spoken with IGN and claims that he'll be doing a much different version of Luthor than the ones we've seen before.

“I don’t know the history as well as the people making the movie. so I guess it’s up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations. But I will treat it like it’s its own role,” says Jesse.

“So I guess it’s up to them to figure out how much they want to separate it from previous incarnations. But I will treat it like it’s its own role,” he adds, giving some hope to desperate fans that this movie might at least have some potential to carry on the legacy of the first “Man of Steel” production.

“It’s a really great role. The fact that it’s in a big movie, you know, it seems like a character that would be in any kind of movie. It just happens to be in a bigger, flashier kind of thing,” Eisenberg concludes.
