When Jesse Eisenberg, the mousy and angst-ridden teen actor from “The Social Network” was announced as playing Lex Luthor in the “Batman v Superman” movie, many expressed their displeasure at the casting choice, saying that Eisenberg was not right for the part.

He wasn't the only weird casting decision made in this movie (Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman have also been widely debated), but Jesse has stuck to his guns and has decided to play the part.

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Eisenberg when talking about his character and describing him as “a complicated, challenging person.”

He reveals that “I got to know one of the writers really well, Chris Terrio, and we were able to discuss things at length and figure out who this person is to create a real psychology behind what is, perhaps, in a comic book, a less than totally modern psychology. I can only say I've been asked to play an interesting role: a complicated, challenging person.”

The actor also says that he was asked if he could play the part before he was even sent out the script because “they don't just hand the scripts out.” Finally, the young actor goes on to praise the complicated process and all the work that goes in making a superhero movie, “I realize why they're popular - the story is really good, the dialogue is really good, the artistry behind every department is high, the acting is really good.”
