Snooki is pregnant and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is currently in rehab for an alleged alcohol and drug problem. As such, producers of the hit MTV series Jersey Shore have decided to have them “phased out” on the upcoming season.

Just recently, the network announced that a sixth season of the reality show had been greenlit and would go into production this summer, for a later release date.

MTV also said that all the cast members would return to the show, for another great big “adventure” involving non-stop crazy partying and boozing.

However, Snooki is pregnant with her first child and The Situation is in rehab, which means two of the hardest partying stars are suddenly in a situation in which they must curb their wild ways.

This could drive viewers away by the thousands.

TMZ says that producers have already started thinking of ways of having them “phased out” and replaced by newcomers.

“Sources close to 495 Productions tell TMZ, the production company is currently looking for new talent,” the e-zine writes.

“According to sources, 495 desperately wants to keep things fresh – and folding in new castmates will help transition the show into a new generation, while still keeping old fans hooked,” adds the same report.

“We're told 495 plans to limit Snooki and The Situation's roles on the new season – giving new cast members more screen time instead,” the celebrity e-zine writes.

This is probably the only alternative left for MTV to still keep raking in the dough from Jersey Shore, while also being mindful of the situation of the two.

Snooki is said to be excited about the return to the house, though she's also determined to change her ways a lot, now that she's with child.

The Situation, on the other hand, will have to work hard to stay sober, which means he can't possibly party the same way he used to.

Whether fans will also like the idea producers came up with remains to be seen.
