Though the cast of MTV’s “Jersey Shore” is constantly criticized in the media, it would seem this is a clear case of the world loving to hate them. Defying all odds, the second season of the show continues to bring in record ratings.

In fact, OMG Yahoo says, the ratings are so good MTV can boast of having the biggest reality show in years, now on air, which is quite an achievement for a network that was once the “Music Television.”

Apparently, recent episodes of the show managed to bring more and more members of the audience and keep them glued to their television set, with the latest marking a new record for MTV.

“Jersey Shore continued its quest for world domination, improving on its ratings for the fourth straight week,” OMG Yahoo writes.

“Thursday’s episode, featuring anonymous-note drama between the ladies, drew 6.5 million viewers. It was MTV’s highest-rated telecast in more than eight years, since The Osbournes,” the e-zine says.

“The episode was also the top cable telecast in adults ages 18-34 demographic, with a 3.3 rating,” OMG Yahoo goes on to say.

Right now, the guys and girls of Jersey Shore have finished shooting for the third season and are officially on vacation, AceShowbiz reports.

Cast members have been spotted leaving the Seaside Heights, New Jersey temporary residence – but not before they had one final night of hitting the party circuit.

“Jersey Shore wrapped up the filming of season 3 on Saturday, September 4. The cast such as Snooki, The Situation and J-Woww were moving out of their temporary residence in Seaside Heights, New Jersey to head for their own ways. The night before, they had partied on the top floor of White Pearl Hotel,” AceShowbiz says.

Though they were somewhat reluctant to start work on the third season at first (on financial considerations, not because of anything else), the cast looked downcast at the thought the summer was now over.

“They all looked grim as they loaded their belongings to the cars. Lovers Sammi and Ronnie had a long-kiss goodbye before they entered their cars while the newest member of the gang, Deena, shared a hug and laughter with her BFF Snooki,” AceShowbiz says.

An air date for season 3 has not yet been announced. Presumably, it will be a while longer before MTV does that since it’s still airing episodes of season 2.
