Though they made it past the second season when no one expected them to, the cast members of MTV’s controversial but still very popular “Jersey Shore” reality show are not happy with how much money they make. Consequently, when they were supposed to start shooting for season 3, they all decided to go on strike and not say another line until they’re not offered better contracts, TMZ reports.

Apparently, the reality stars have come to the conclusion that they can make more money by taking up paid gigs as hosts or for other public appearances than they can under their present contracts with MTV. So, even if that means violating said contracts, they’ve decided to stand their ground to the network and demand to be paid better. After all, they’re probably counting on that MTV will see that it can’t have “Jersey Shore” without them, it is being said.

“The cast of ‘Jersey Shore’ is so dissatisfied over their contract situation that they refused to shoot scenes for the upcoming third season until they get a better deal... this according to sources connected with the show. The cast was supposed to begin shooting ‘at home’ scenes today for season three, but we’re told JWoww, Ronnie, Sammi, Pauly D and Vinny – who are spread out between New York and Rhode Island – told the crews they weren’t shooting without new contracts,” TMZ informs.

“The Situation and Snooki are supposed to shoot tomorrow, and we’re told Snooki plans to do the same. No word yet on The Situation, but as we first reported... he’s having contract issues of his own. Sources close to the show tell TMZ the cast feels they can make more money doing appearances for two months, rather than filming the show. A rep for MTV had no comment,” the same media outlet goes on it say.

TMZ also reported on Sunday that Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino was in secret negotiations with the network to get a significant raise for season 3 and 4 of the show. At the moment, The Situation gets an estimated $10,000 per episode, but he’s looking to be making much more if everything goes well: about $27,500 – $45,000 for a single episode, insiders revealed for TMZ.
