The comedian alleges it's the same joke he used in an American Express commercial

“The Lego Movie” is currently enjoying massive success at the box office, so no wonder it's raising a bit of controversy.

In a post on his Twitter account, famous comedian Jerry Seinfeld points out that there are some similarities between a Superman joke in the film and some of his previous material.

In the movie, Superman, voiced by Channing Tatum, seems to be annoyed by the clingy Green Lantern, voiced by Jonah Hill, who is desperate to be his friend. Superman gets so fed up with Green Lantern, that at some point he begs to be given Kryptonite, just to get away from him.

In Seinfeld's joke featured in the webisode “Hindsight is 20/20,” Superman and Seinfeld are being photographed by an elderly woman who asks them if they know the Green Lantern. Visibly annoyed, Superman admits to the acquaintance, leaving to interpretation that he's not a fan.

His complaints on Twitter were deemed ridiculous by many, and some of the answers he received were hilarious. For example, Ricky Gervais tweeted back “@JerrySeinfeld I know how you feel. Schindler's List stole a lot of my early stuff.”
