It's been over a year that something new was heard of a purported Julian Assange biopic, but the news we're getting right now is of the best kind: Jeremy Renner and Bill Condon are circling the project.

While documentaries and docu-series on the controversial founder of WikiLeaks have already been shot and are now awaiting release, work on the project has stalled in recent months.

That will probably change soon, IndieWire writes.

Renner is interested in starring as Assange himself, while Condon would be game to direct.

“Over at DreamWorks, Jeremy Renner is taking a look at playing Assange, while Bill Condon is kicking the tires on directing,” the movie-oriented e-zine says.

For the time being, the project is still in development, which means chances are good it might never happen, especially given the fact that media interest in Assange has dwindled in recent months and that other releases on the same topic will be coming out soon.

“We’ll see if this actually moves forward, but if it’s already attracting this kind of talent, it looks like Assange won’t be fading from public memory any time soon,” IndieWire says.
