“Hurt Locker” star denies “hitting on” Jess on the red carpet

Jeremy Renner of this year’s biggest movie, “The Hurt Locker,” may be the hottest guy around but he’s not actually looking for love right now, let alone in the arms of Jessica Simpson, as reports seem to suggest. The Oscar nominee is taking his time out to rubbish a report that he’s set his eyes on Jess and spent most of his time at one Oscar party trying to get her to date him, Us Magazine informs.

As per ongoing reports, though he walked the red carpet before the Academy Awards with his mother and spent the time inside with fellow nominee Carey Mulligan, Renner invested a lot of time too in wooing singer Jessica Simpson at an after-party. The only problem is, as the actor himself puts it, he did no such thing, since he only got to meet Jessica and talk to her for about 3 minutes. The rest is just a rumor.

“The Hurt Locker star Jeremy Renner is squashing a report that he recently made the moves on singer Jessica Simpson. People.com reported that at a recent cocktail party for his movie at the L.A. home of Madonna’s manager Guy Oseary, Renner, 39, ‘spent the night hitting on Jessica like crazy. They were really flirting up a storm.’ But Renner – who brought his mom to the Oscars Sunday – told Us Magazine Sunday at the Governor’s Ball that he only met Simpson, 29, for ‘three minutes’,” the mag writes.

“‘Her hair stylist [Ken Paves] did my mom’s hair so we were talking about that – and then all of a sudden we’re dating!’ he told Us. Asked if he’s seeing anyone, he told Us, ‘I’m single - and looking!’ But that doesn’t mean he’s a Hollywood player. ‘I’m not a ladies man!’ Renner told Us. ‘I’m a working man! That’s all’,” Us Magazine further says after speaking with Jeremy himself.

While the rumor that he’s with or interested in romancing Jessica Simpson may be squashed, it certainly looks like Jeremy Renner might as well get used to having tabloids speculating on his personal life based on a couple of photos and no more. The Daily Mail, for instance, hints that something may be up with him and Carey Mulligan who, until recently, was dating “Transformers” star Shia LaBeouf.
