Actor Jeremy Renner has been involved in a very serious bar brawl in Thailand, which ended with one man being stabbed in the abdomen and neck, and several other persons injured, himself included.

TMZ informs that Renner, star of “The Hurt Locker” and the more recent box office hit “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol,” was partying with friends when the violence erupted.

The video embedded at the end of the article is the initial report: police already have the assailants in custody but an investigation is still underway to determine exactly what happened.

The violent episode took place in Phuket, Thailand, where Renner and his clique were bar hopping, TMZ reports.

For the time being, we only have eyewitness accounts but fans should at least breathe easy knowing that Renner walked away only with minor injuries.

“Thai authorities say Jeremy and his party had been bar hopping and ended up at the club where the violence broke out at 4:30 AM, after hours,” the celebrity e-zine says.

“One of the men in Jeremy's party – Vorasit Issara, the General Manager of the Siri Panwa Resort – dropped a glass on the floor and apparently that started the melee,” the report further says.

“Six men – who apparently worked at the bar – then allegedly attacked Jeremy, Vorasit and the others in their party. In addition to being stabbed in the neck, Vorasit was stabbed in the stomach with a knife,” adds the same media outlet.

It's also been claimed that Vorasit had been drinking and getting into arguments with fellow patrons right before the violence began, but these claims have not been confirmed just yet.

Whether Renner was involved in any other way in the altercation than as a witness / victim in it is not yet known.

As far as the media knows, he does not have a history with alcohol (or substance) abuse, or an aggressive temper.
