Last we heard of Kirstie Alley and her plan to keep the weight she'd lost on Dancing With the Stars, she was still dancing to maintain her new, slimmer figure. A new report says she's been piling on the pounds since then, which is why Jenny Craig is willing to welcome her back.
The actress has quite a reputation for her yo-yo-ing weight but, for a while there in 2008, it seemed that Jenny had helped her attain the body of her dreams and, most importantly, avoid bouncing back to a heavier frame.
Now 25 pounds (11.3 kg) heavier than when she was done with DWTS , Kirstie is again in the same situation she was before she started on the program, so Jenny bosses believe the time is right for another celebrity endorsement deal, Showbiz Spy
writes citing a National Enquirer report.
For those who don't keep tabs
on such things, Jenny and Kirstie parted ways in a (reportedly) not quite so amicably way in 2008. Mariah Carey is now the official spokesperson for the weight loss program.
“Jenny Craig dumped Alley as spokesperson in early 2008. But they’ve now offered to welcome her back as a special guest sponsor,” the celebrity e-zine writes.
A source confirms this, saying that Jenny bosses believe this would be a deal to benefit both parties: they would get lots of press because of Kirstie, while she'd get to lose the extra pounds.
“The Jenny Craig brass keep tabs on their former celebrity spokespersons, and just like the rest of the world, they’ve watched Kirstie struggle with her battle of the bulge,” explains the unnamed inside source.
“They loved having Kirstie as their representative for three years because she lost 75 pounds [34 kg] by following their plan. Plus, she’s so much fun that everyone loves her!” the source goes on to say.
The same spy believes that the star's recent weight gain might have a lot to do with stress eating and Jenny might be able to help her with that.
“Kirstie eats when she’s under pressure, and that’s exactly what she was doing while trying to finish her memoir. She’s a classic binge eater and she can pack on the pounds faster than anyone. Kirstie is her own worst enemy – she knows she’s fat and she hates herself for it, but that just makes her eat more. It’s a vicious cycle,” says the source.
Jenny wants only what's best for Kirstie, hence the thought of having her as spokesperson again. No word yet on what Kirstie wants – and whether that includes a new deal with the weight loss program.
