Star reveals relationships take a lot of work

Earlier this year, reports had it that Marc Anthony was abusive to wife Jennifer Lopez and that the couple were heading for a split, with the diva heartbroken but determined to leave him. Almost six months later, the two are still very much together and still very much in love, even if they still haven’t yet learned the inner mechanisms of marriage, as Jennifer herself explains for the latest issue of InStyle magazine.

Lopez is now preparing to relaunch her movie career and to add another studio album to her discography, so more frequent media appearances are to be expected. And, while she continues to focus intently on work, Jennifer can’t hold back the surprise she still feels when she looks at the twins she has with Marc, or, for that matter, when she thinks their marriage made it into the fifth year – especially since she’s still trying to figure out how that works, she says.

“How do two totally different people come together and make one life and say they’ll do it forever and ever? I mean, I’ve tried it. This is my third time. I don’t even think I tried in my other marriages, which was immature and not knowing better... I believe that in life you learn through experience. I’m old enough to know now that relationships take work. That it’s not an easy thing. We’re always together... I respect him so much.” Jennifer shares about her marriage to Marc Anthony and how they keep it together.

Twins Max and Emma, of course, also play an important part in keeping Marc and Jennifer so close, even if she is still to understand the miracle of parenthood as well. As fans must remember, some reports in the media had it at one point that it was the twins taking a toll on the marriage of the two stars, because Jennifer was constantly exhausted and, at the same time, dying to get her career back on track. Judging from Lopez’s interview, this was never the case – and will never be.

“There’s nothing as huge as giving birth to another human being and having to be responsible for another life. [Parenthood] totally changes your perspective on everything.” the diva explains. For more on this, pick up the 15th-Anniversary Issue of InStyle out on newsstands now.
