Jennifer Lopez has one of the best bodies in showbiz, but she tells Us Weekly in a new interview that it’s not so much the result of obsessing with her weight as it is a conscious attempt at staying as healthy as possible. The interview doubles as an ad for BodyLab, the line of supplements she helped devise.

The interview comes with a summery photospread in which JLo poses in a variety of swimsuits, one more glamorous than the other. In the video below, shot on set, the diva says that, despite her glamorous image, she is just a regular girl, with her good and bad days.

“A healthy body image comes from being the best you”

Yes, you read that right: Jennifer Lopez might look like the total glamazon in magazine photos and on the red carpet, but she too has her insecurities, which means she too has her bad days. You know the kind, those days when you feel like nothing looks good or works on you, for whatever reason.

Jennifer’s motto in life is that we shouldn’t compare ourselves to others, including when it comes to physical appearance.

“I think a healthy body image comes from being the best you, not competing with anybody else,” she says. “You know, I'm not a 6-foot tall model... I'm not a size 2. I think it's about focusing on yourself and just trying to be the best you.”

To Jennifer, happiness is about embracing who you are and working to improve whatever you don’t like about yourself, if there’s room for improvement.

BodyLab is about being the best you

And here’s where her BodyLab offering comes in: Jennifer’s words have a nice ring to it, but they’re the same ones she’s been using to promote her line of weight loss supplements, known as BodyLab.

Jennifer has said before, just like she does now, that she’s gotten the figure she has with help from the program, but the reality is that (also per her own admission) she lost weight by going vegan on a dare.

She shunned all animal products some time, and when she saw that it was paying off, she decided to stick to this lifestyle. At the same time, she intensified her workouts, doing intense dance classes and weightlifting for 5 days a week with trainer to the stars Tracy Anderson.

Anderson has also helped celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna get in the best shape - and stay there.
