Daily Mail claims to have it on good authority that the split came after it became clear she wanted to raise the twins as Scientology believers.
Lopez once said that, despite her father’s belief, she was still a Catholic. At the same time, though, she defended the Church of Scientology, saying that no one should judge it so harshly before they know all the facts about it.
She also said she’d raise twins Max and Emme in the spirit of the Church, allowing them to go to Scientology school.
This didn’t sit well with Marc.
“JLo’s commitment to Scientology was a bone of contention between the Hollywood star and her husband, and the couple, both 42, rowed over her wish to send their three-year-old twins, Max and Emme, to a Scientology school,” the Mail writes.
“Jennifer is close friends with Tom Cruise and his wife Katie Holmes, also staunch Scientologists,” the British tabloid adds.
She was seriously considering sending the twins to a Scientology school, even if Marc repeatedly warned her that he didn’t want it.
A source confirms all of the above for the Mail, adding that, in time, the arguing simply got too much.
“Jennifer and Marc couldn’t see eye-to-eye on the subject. She’s always been more into the church than him. He wasn’t a huge fan and it caused problems,” an unnamed but admittedly reliable spy says for the same publication.
Speaking of the reason her marriage collapsed after so many years together, in
her first interview since announcing the divorce, Jennifer would only say that she knew the time had come for her and Marc to walk down different paths in life.
