Much ink has gone into stories about how Jennifer Lopez is a total diva who won’t even let her staff look her in the eye if she doesn’t address them directly first. As is often the case, these stories couldn’t be farther from the truth, the singer herself reveals for the September issue of Glamour magazine, in which she opens up about her latest album, her public persona and life at home.

The interview comes with a spread in which Jennifer does her best pinup impression – to the most extraordinary of results. However, regardless of how high her heels are or how impeccable her makeup, hair or outfit, Jennifer says she’s not really like that in her personal life as well. At home, just like any other woman, she’s just a regular woman who has a family to take care of, a husband and kids and a personal life. It may seem difficult to imagine, but it’s the truth.

“I like to maintain a certain sense of fantasy in my life. I am kind of like that at home. Do I have the full hair and makeup? No. But I might have the nice dress on,” Jennifer says. Speaking of being a public figure, the star reveals she has absolutely no regrets. “I don’t regret what I’ve been through. I’ve had ups and downs, super highs and some really low lows. I’ve been so blessed that I could never say, ‘I wish this didn’t happen.’ It’s part of who I am. There’s nothing in my life that’s so ugh. Yes, there are some things that I’m like, Eww, but not where I’m worried about [Max and Emme] finding out. I’ll tell them myself. No secrets from them,” Jennifer says.

When the discussion reaches the topic of her music and her latest album, “Love?,” Jennifer is more generous with the details. “For me, love is the never-ending question,” she says of the question mark at the end of the name of the album. “It’s confusing. It’s the answer, but it’s also inundated with contradictions and complications. It’s about years of experience in different relationships, and kind of the culmination of that, and how even to this day, I’m still learning,” she further explains.
