Break out the champagne and let the world know, Jennifer Lopez has finally given birth to her twins late last night! I can almost feel tears coming to my eyes. Kidding. Actually, I am very happy for the Latino diva, but I must confess that my happiness is trumped by relief more than I could possibly explain. I mean, we're all very happy J.Lo finally got her precious bundles of joy, but we're even more relieved that all the media frenzy surrounding them is pretty much over. I admit, I was feeling mildly annoyed (OK, maybe not that mildly) over the fact that Jennifer Lopez was making such a big deal of her pregnancy media-wise, refusing to confirm it at first, and then making such a big fuss over selling her baby pictures for a huge amount of money - which I feel she doesn't particularly deserve, but that's just my very, very personal opinion.
So, back to the original point: Jennifer Lopez had twins early this morning, and her representative was quick to release the details to the public. Apparently, she had a girl weighing in at 5 lbs. 7 oz. at 12:12 am, and a boy at 12:23 am who weighed 6 lbs. And no, no word yet on any names for the twins, and I confess that's the one thing I've been looking forward to in a long time. J.Lo had an entire suit reserved for her at Northshore Hospital in Long Island, which had been on hold for her (and therefore unavailable to other, less famous women who might have needed it) for no less than two weeks. Well, as I was saying - star treatment all the way. Way overrated, but that seems to be one word that mainly defines celebrity these days.
Other than that, I must say that I'm not quite looking forward to what's to come. You know, all the staged photo shoots, the first baby pictures, the post-pregnancy interviews in which we'll get to hear all about how happy J.Lo is and how wonderful her husband is and so on... all that celebrity pregnancy routine visited and re-visited past what we can reasonably endure. And if you thought J.Lo was annoying before, just wait until she starts talking and acting like she and her babies are God's gift to the world. Just take it as a friendly warning. Trust me, it will happen - and soon.
