Jennifer Lopez Dumped Marc Anthony Because He Was ‘Too Controlling’

Over the weekend, Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony announced they were getting a divorce, having realized that they would be better off going in different directions. Sources close to the former couple, though, are blaming his controlling ways for the split.

In the statement posted on Lopez’s official webpage, in which the divorce was announced, the diva noted that all matters between them had already been settled.

An explanation for that could be found in the fact that their marriage was over long before they announced it, sources close to the couple tell the Daily Mail.

Specifically, they started arguing bitterly after Jennifer gave birth to the twins and her mother moved in to help her out raising them.

Afterwards, things went from bad to worse when she found out that he had millions in debt to the IRS in unpaid back taxes. They also fought about where to live.

The one thing that contributed the most to the separation was Marc’s controlling ways, her stylist Phillip Bloch reveals for the British tabloid.

“This is not a surprise. Marc is very controlling. In the beginning she liked that because he stood up to her, and in the early days he was very much in love with her and she was with him,” Bloch says.

In time, Jennifer grew tired of it and wouldn’t take it anymore.

“JLo’s mother wanted to run her life and Marc wanted to run her life and I don’t think J-Lo wanted anyone to control her,” filmmaker Ed Meyer agrees.

“They also clashed when she learned he owed millions in unpaid taxes on the Long Island estate. The other problem was that they couldn’t agree where to live,” Meyer adds.

“JLo’s career is in Hollywood and she wanted to live in their Malibu mansion and Marc loved New York. She was going to move to New York in a last-ditch effort to save the marriage. But last Monday I heard it was all over,” he explains.

Indeed, Jennifer offered to move to NYC to save her marriage but, for some reason, she never got to. Right before she went to meet the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in LA at the BAFTA event, Jennifer told Marc everything was over between them.
