14 DAY TRIAL // Jennifer Lopez and Casper Smart are done after almost two years as one of the most unlikely couples in showbiz. He was recently caught texting and sending dirty photos to two transgender models, and it all got spun into this huge cheating scandal, even though no cheating (other than virtual) occurred.
The other day, word got out that Jennifer broke up with Casper and many people assumed it was because of Casper’s wandering eye and tendency to overshare online. However, fresh reports indicate that, while it’s true that they’re no longer together, the texting scandal may have had nothing to do with it.
In fact, they had been broken up for anywhere between 6 weeks and 2 months, depending on which insider you believe. Things have just not been working out and they decided together that it’s best if they continued their separate ways, it is being said.
“They initially split about six weeks ago, but that can take a little time to extricate. But they've definitely broken up. The relationship had just run its course,” a source tells People magazine. “Jennifer is actually doing really well and working hard.”
Oddly enough, just a couple of days ago, another tipster was telling the same publication that, while still “technically” together, JLo and Casper were just about done, because they hadn’t been seeing eye to eye for months.
The insider hinted that the cheating scandal would only be the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back, but insisted that they had not broken up officially just yet and were still trying to make it work.
Us Weekly confirms that the breakup happened some time ago, and that spending so much time apart was what made them realize staying together was impossible.
Meanwhile TMZ says that it was “amicable” and that, no, the “scandal” had nothing to do with it. “Casper is in the process of moving out right now. We're told there was no rush because JLo's been on the road promoting her 10th album, AKA,” TMZ adds.
Casper “will be pursuing acting, which is why he took show directing and choreography off his Instagram.”
Unofficially, word in the blogosphere has it that things between Jennifer and Casper had been bad, but she never imagined that he would go cruising online for hookups, let alone in the transgender community, when she’s away on business.
When she found out about it, she drew the line – and immediately had her people go in damage control mode, by planting these stories about how the breakup had actually happened long before he “cheated.” You see, if they had broken up a couple of months ago, whatever Casper did with the transgender models he picked up would not count as cheating, virtual or otherwise.
Lopez is notoriously unlucky in love, so we imagine her fans are hoping this last part isn’t true, because she really doesn’t need any more heartbreak.
