Jennifer Lopez flew to Avasa over the weekend to perform at the birthday party of the President of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedow. Above is a video from her show, for which she is believed to have made upwards of $1 million (€766,577).

After word of the performance got out online, various voices, including that of the President of the Human Rights Foundation, pointed out that Lopez had taken money to perform for one of the nine “worst of the worst” dictators of all times.

The same HRF argued that she might want to perform in Syria next, considering how much disregard she’d shown for the repeated and extremely disturbing human rights violations perpetrated by Berdimuhamedow over the years.

In response to all this, a publicist for Lopez says she had no idea of all this when she agreed to perform.

“Had there been knowledge of human rights issues any kind, Jennifer would not have attended,” says the rep.

Obviously, Jennifer Lopez can’t or doesn’t want to use Google.
