We've already seen the first trailer for “Serena,” a period love story set in the Depression Era that stars two of today's favorite Hollywood actors: Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence. The second one brings some new footage and the promise of suspense and passion, not to mention the chance of seeing Jennifer Lawrence as a 1930s femme fatale.

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper have shared the screen before, in the Oscar-winning love story “Silver Linings Playbook,” so we know the two have chemistry together. The film follows the story of Serena, a beautiful girl who falls in love with George, an ambitious young man who plans to make a fortune from logging in the forests of North Carolina.

The two set up a small empire that soon comes crumbling down as Serena finds out about her husband's infidelities and proceeds to deal away with the opposition. The US trailer has Serena screaming at George in despair “I did it for you!” and we're only left to guess what “it” refers to.

Though at its core a love story, “Serena” also focuses on the drama and violence of the period, not to mention the independent spirit of the main character in a time when women were seen as little more than child bearers and homemakers.

“Serena” will be released in cinemas in February of next year.
