“X-Men: Apocalypse,” the third installment in the new “X-Men” franchise, focusing on the younger generation of mutants, will be out in March 2016, under the direction of Bryan Singer. Singer has teased before that fans are in for a shocker at the end of the film, and now it’s Lawrence’s turn to do the same.

Speaking with MTV at the premiere of the movie “Serena” over the weekend, the actress point-blank revealed that she would not return to the franchise after “Apocalypse.” Video of the interview is below, with the “X-Men” comment coming towards the end.

“It is my last one, actually,” she told Josh Horowitz when he remarked that her journey as Mystique was coming towards an end. As fans probably know, Mystique is the blue shape-shifter that was raised by Xavier as a half-sister, who then turns rogue and leaves with Magneto at the end of “X-Men: First Class.”

Fans received Lawrence’s take on Mystique with praise in the new iteration of “X-Men,” but it could be that she can no longer keep up with such a busy schedule, what with being involved in 2 major franchises, this one and “The Hunger Games.”

Shooting for “Hunger Games” wrapped a long time ago, but she is still bound by contract to do countless promotional appearances. Besides these 2 projects, Lawrence is also keeping busy doing some indie and small-budget films, like the aforementioned “Serena,” which is her third movie with Bradley Cooper. The fourth one will be “Joy,” out later this year.
