It's going to be some time until Jennifer Lawrence is going to get over the massive intimate photo leak scandal that has seen her exposed in the media and on the internet in a way that's never very good for one's reputation, especially if that someone relies on a career in the spotlight.

The actress fell victim to some hacker, along with other notable names in show business, such as model Kate Upton, singer Ariana Grande, actress Victoria Justice and gymnast McKayla Maroney. Many of the people involved admitted that the photos were real and announced they would sue anyone publishing them, while others chose to claim they were fakes.

Lawrence opens up about the leak

Lawrence was among the first to own up to the photos, and by doing so she received the respect and support of fans, who blasted the hacker and the leaks as an invasion of privacy. Soon after the leak hit the Internet, fans expressed their support to Lawrence on social media and sided with her.

But that doesn't mean that Jennifer doesn't fear for her career at the moment. The actress thinks that this PR blow is going to cost her a few roles in the future and possibly even jeopardize her acting career as a whole.

OK! Magazine quotes the actress as saying “To be honest, I don’t really leave my house a lot. I don’t know; I have to find a life that isn’t work. But I suck at everything. I’m not good at anything else!” explaining that she doesn't usually give the media the chance to invade her privacy.

Maybe it was exactly this discretion that has driven hackers to violate her private photos and then share them on the internet. Regardless of the motive, Jennifer has seen her private snaps leak onto the Internet. The images showed what she was keen to hide on screen, basically her without her clothes on.

The leak has already had an impact on the industry

Apart from the discussions into the morality of leaking a person's private photos, be they famous or not, the scandal also brought into question online security, although many experts in the field would consider the two terms, “Internet” and “security,” an oxymoron.

The first consequences of the scandal have already begun to take effect. First, Reddit has just announced it's closing down the photo-sharing ability on its website, just as the FBI has unveiled an inquiry into the case and just as McKayla Maroney let it slip that she was a minor at the time the photos were leaked, making publishing the photos a federal offense.
