Who knew Jennifer Garner could be so hilarious? The actress, now promoting her new film “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” which will be out in US theaters next Friday, on October 10, told Jimmy Fallon the other night why she and husband Ben Affleck weren’t at George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin’s wedding.

Hint: it’s not what you expect.

Video of this segment of the interview is available below and will probably serve as confirmation that “stars are just like us,” or that at least these two A-listers, Jennifer and Ben, are.

The Affleck family and a severe case of head lice

First of all, let’s start this by saying that Jennifer does a mean impersonation of her husband, which, by the way, you will have to watch the video to be able to confirm.

Speaking to Fallon about how they are just like any other family out there, Jennifer recalls how she got head lice from the kids, who, in turn, got infested at school. That in itself wouldn’t have been such a huge deal, if Ben hadn’t insisted on going out to a dinner party while they were still being treated for their yucky problem.

Jennifer explains that she thought very little about it when he asked her to go out, because she didn’t want him to think she was high maintenance. Laughing, she recalls getting ready for a night out and telling herself that the smell from the greasy treatment she had applied on the hair wasn’t really that bad.

When she got there, she was shocked to see that George Clooney was also a guest, and this being the first time she met him, she was eager to make an impression. She made one, but not the kind she imagined, because she could tell he smelled her – and she’s convinced that’s why he didn’t invite her and Ben to the wedding. Clooney didn’t want “Licey” there.

The Clooney-Alamuddin wedding, a beautiful fairytale held in Venice, Italy

That’s a hilarious story, but it’s not true: both Ben and Jennifer are now promoting new movies, while working on several other projects, so that’s why they skipped the wedding. The tabloids will probably try for another couple of days to make a big deal out of their absence, especially since Ben and George are said to be good friends, but you should probably not believe any of the rumors.

Clooney married Alamuddin, an international rights attorney from the UK, in Venice, Italy, last weekend, and the ceremony was the event that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie refused to give the world when they tied the knot in secret at their French castle.

Festivities lasted an entire weekend plus the next Monday and were as mediated as they were spectacular. In other words, the media had a field day dissecting Amal’s fashion, the guests’ fashion, the preparations, and everything else.

As if that weren’t enough, the newlyweds granted 2 major publications access to all the events, People and Hello!, selling the rights to the photos and the stories and then donating the money to charity. This way fans got to learn every little detail about the wedding, from the menu to the music and the gift bags.

The Clooney-Alamuddin wedding was undoubtedly the wedding of the year, an even bigger, more beautiful, and more mediated event than Kim Kardashian’s French-Italian nuptials to Kanye West, which took place in May. Ben and Jennifer must have had a hard time turning it down.
