Dustin Lance Black, the screenwriter behind the critically acclaimed “Milk,” is back with another film that he hopes will impress audiences, only that, this time, he's also directing. The first trailer for “Virginia” is above.

The project has actually been around for some time, making its debut at the 2010 film festivals. After it was thrashed by critics, Black went back to the drawing board.

The remade film arrives in theaters on May 18 and, hopefully, it will not suffer the same fate as the original version.

It stars Jennifer Connelly as Virginia, a mother of one and insane woman, who plots her revenge at the town's Sheriff turned politician, after he dumps her to the curb.

Harrison Gilbertson, Ed Harris, Emma Roberts and Toby Jones also appear in it.
