Jennifer Aniston rarely takes huge risks on the red carpet, but even so, she unmistakably makes for a stunning presence every time she walks on one. The other night at TIFF, where she showed up to promote her new film “Cake,” the former “Friends” star committed a rare fashion faux-pas by forgetting that black tends to go completely see-through when camera flashes are on.

To put it differently, Jennifer wore one of her favorite little black dresses and its fabric left very little to the imagination when photographers started happily snapping away.

The Daily Mail notes that this was as rare an occurrence for Jennifer as it was a huge mishap: in certain photos available at the link, you can see the actress’ breast in full, because the fabric became completely sheer in very strong artificial light.

LBDs, a Jennifer Aniston staple

Jennifer either didn’t notice or did but still tried to play it cool, because she smiled and posed happily for all the shots. She also posed with co-star Sam Worthington and her fiancé Justin Theroux, who didn’t walk the red carpet with her but waited for her inside.

She too has been supporting him during the promo tour for his HBO show “The Leftovers,” so it was only expected for him to return the favor.

Other than this mishap, Jennifer looked great as always. She’s always loved a little black dress, no matter the nature of the event, but at the same time, she is always able to switch it up too – and make it interesting.

This one she wore, for instance, featured a sleeveless, tight, elastic top and a double layered skirt that showed off her toned legs and her enviable waistline. The ruffles on the skirt added a certain air of youthful playfulness to what would have otherwise been a bland outfit, especially since Jen kept it somber in her choice of shoes as well. She wore black stilettos.

Wardrobe malfunctions, planned “incidents” to boost interest in a new project

Because Jennifer Aniston is rarely caught off guard like this, we can rule her out of the club of stars who carefully plan such wardrobe malfunctions in order to drum up more interest in whatever project they happen to be promoting.

Still, wardrobe malfunctions are always guaranteed to secure fresh interest from the media and the fans. Nicki Minaj, for instance, is said to have rehearsed her faux-pas moment at the MTV Video Music Awards 2014 last month precisely for this purpose, when she walked up on stage to perform, holding her dress with her hands because the zipper on it had gotten stuck.

Aniston is too classy and too famous to need to pull such stunts, most will agree. On the other hand, it seems a bit difficult to believe a woman with such a keen interest in fashion as her, and with her experience on doing red carpets, would just conveniently forget that certain black fabrics become completely see-through in the strong flashes of the cameras, would you say?
