Jennie Garth went through severe heartbreak when she and now ex-husband Peter Facinelli decided to end their marriage after 11 years, but the pain motivated her to be healthier. However, keeping the weight she lost off is a daily struggle.

As we also noted on a previous occasion, Jennie is now 30 pounds (13.6 Kg) slimmer thanks to a combination of healthy eating and regular exercise.

In a new interview cited by People magazine, she says that staying on track isn’t as easy as she thought at first, mostly because she doesn’t want to go to extremes and deprive herself of life’s little pleasures.

For her, that means a little white chocolate every once in a while (“my weakness,” she calls it) and baking for the kids – tasting included, of course.

“Maintenance is definitely challenging. It's something you have to do daily,” she says of trying to keep the balance between healthy and too focused on dieting.

“You have to remind yourself what your priorities are, and remind yourself about staying healthy and living a healthy life,” Jennie says.

The children are the priorities of the stunning actress, so she knows she must stay healthy.

Jennie is on a gluten-free diet and works out on a daily basis. The trick to avoid boredom where the latter is concerned is to keep moving.

“Every day, I try to schedule something in, whether it's hiking with my dog or jogging or going to the gym. Those are the things I'm focused on right now,” she says.

Garth does two sessions a week at the gym, mostly light weight training, as we informed you a short while ago. Her favorite way of burning calories is going hiking, but she also goes out for a jog with a friend or her dog.
