“I don't claim to be, I don't try to be, and I don't want to be” says the actress

Jennette McCurdy is ready to take a new direction in her career, apparently a very raunchy one

The above statement comes days after the “Sam & Cat” actress posted a series of raunchy photos on her social media, sending her fans into a frenzy but also making them scratch their heads in confusion.

You see, the young Jennette has already been involved in a rude photo scandal earlier this year, but in that case it was thought the photos were leaked by a vengeful ex-boyfriend. What that meant was that people ogled, but they did not pass judgment, thinking poor McCurdy was the victim.

Those photos weren't too revealing, just the young girl in lingerie and enticing poses, so people maintained the squeaky clean image of the actress who played the lead in a Nickelodeon TV show. Now Jennette is here to tell you that those photos were no accident.

In a lengthy post on Reddit, she explains that she's not the role model that everyone thinks she is. “I've grown up a bit (emphasis on ‘a bit’). I might not be any wiser, but I like to think I'm more honest,” she tells her detractors.

“To remove myself from the role model battle, the falsified standard set by the bubblegum industry, is - in my eyes - to remove myself from the counterintuitive battle of attempting to be something perfect while being glaringly aware of my imperfections,” she continues, trying to justify her recent raunchy photos.

She explains that while she still retains her “girlyness,” she's also more mature now, free to make her own decisions and to choose her own path in life. It seems that, for the moment, that path is towards flaunting certain bits of her adolescent body in tight, skimpy outfits for the entire world to see.

She also clarifies that “I am proud of the way I live my life. I am proud of my choices. I am proud that no one can call me fake or say I don't stand up for myself. I am proud that my friends and family would say that I'm a good person.”

The rest of the discourse tries to explain to simple-minded people the differences between what a celebrity comes off in the media and the person they are at home. The rant is finished with the conclusion that she is not a role model, but that she respects those who consider her to be one.

She reminds people to choose their role models from people they actually know in real life and whose actions inspire them, rather than just idolizing random people in the media.

While her ideas are noble and her point is valid, young McCurdy has made a huge gaffe and it comes in the way she delivered her message. Going to the Reddit page with her post, you're going to see a saucy photo of the actress distracting your attention from the right side of the screen and basically being the counterpoint of everything she has to say in her few paragraphs.
