It's been more than a week since Samsung kicked off the rollout of the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update for Samsung Galaxy S III in India.

One would think that after a few months of testing the update would be bug-free. Unfortunately for Indian Galaxy S III owners, the update has just been suspended.

The folks over at AndroidOS have been able to confirm the upgrade for Samsung Galaxy S III has been halted due to some technical issues.

According to an email sent to a Galaxy S III owner on November 15, there will some time until the roll out of the update is resumed:

“We would like to inform you that update was released earlier by Samsung India for Galaxy S III but now it rolled back due to some technical reasons, so we request you to kindly co-operate with us till the future release of Android v4.1 (Jelly bean) for mentioned handset. Therefore, we are not in position to give you any official confirmation regarding the same.”

Although Samsung is actively working to fix the issues discovered during the first several days of live testing from Galaxy S III owners, there's no telling how long it will take for the South Korean company to start the rollout of the update once again.

According to Samsung India, “the Product Innovation Team […] are looking on same matter. If any update is available you will be get on our website as soon as possible. Any update in this regard will be conveyed to you by various means of communication.”

This is one of the few times that Samsung halts the rollout of a major update, and it looks like Indian Galaxy S III owners are the unlucky ones to be affected by this failure. We will keep an eye out on this one so stay tuned for more updates on the matter.
